Kansas transfer PF Zach Clemence commits to Texas A&M

Kansas transfer power forward Zach Clemence has committed to Texas A&M, he announced Sunday via Instagram. He played the past four seasons with the Jayhawks.
Clemence appeared in eight games this past season after redshirting in 2023-24. He averaged 1.4 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.
The 6-foot-11 forward played high school basketball for Sunrise Christian Academy (KS), where he was a four-star recruit. He ranked as the No. 66 overall player and No. 16 power forward in the 2021 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Despite his high recruiting ranking, Clemence never played more than five minutes per game in any season at Kansas. His career averages as a Jayhawk are 1.7 points and 1.5 rebounds. He was a member of the national championship team as a true freshman in 2021-22.
As a transfer, Clemence ranks as the No. 373 overall player and No. 84 power forward this cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He is the second transfer addition for Texas A&M this offseason, joining point guard Jacari Lane.
The Aggies are coming off of a second round finish in the NCAA Tournament this past season but lost coach Buzz Williams in the offseason. They’ll attempt to make it back next year with the help of Clemence.

The college basketball transfer portal officially opened for business on Monday, March 24, and will close on Tuesday, April 22. As of this writing, more than 1,000 players had already entered their names.
Last spring alone, 1,962 Division I players tested the portal waters. Based on the early numbers from this year, even more could follow. For the first time in history, more than half of the points scored in college basketball were scored by players from the transfer portal, not high school, in the 2024-25 season.
In data gathered over the first two years with transfer windows, the NCAA found most athletes enter the portal within the first four weeks of the portal opening. The study showed that 73% of men’s and women’s basketball undergraduate athletes entered during the first four weeks. That increased to 82% for men and 86% for women in 2024.
