Texas A&M running back Le’Veon Moss suffered an injury during the Aggies’ win over Florida this past weekend, and it’s a devastating blow to both him and the program. However, there’s hope that it won’t end his season, per On3’s Pete Nakos.

Testing remains ongoing, per Nakos. Optimism remains that the running back didn’t suffer a second consecutive season-ending injury after tearing his MCL and ACL in 2024.

Moss was in the middle of an impressive outing before going down against the Gators. He had tallied five carries for 46 yards and a touchdown when disaster struck and he appeared to injure his ankle.

The play took a turn for the worse when a Florida defender grabbed Moss from behind and dropped his weight onto the running back’s ankle. The replay showed an ugly turn of events, and though Moss was able to walk off the field with assistance from Texas A&M’s training staff, the damage had already seemingly already been done.

Through six games this season, Moss had been one of the most productive players on the Aggies’ offense. The senior has amassed 389 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 70 carries, giving Texas A&M a reliable presence in the backfield and helping balance out their offensive attack.

If Moss is unable to go, the Aggies will have to move forward without one of their most consistent weapons. Fortunately, head coach Mike Elko still has depth to lean on. Rueben Owens and Jamarion Morrow could see expanded roles in Moss’ absence, while Amari Daniels and EJ Smith also remain viable options in the rotation.

For Moss, any injury is a cruel twist of fate in what was shaping up to be an awesome year. Texas A&M will hope he can make a full recovery and return healthy in his football journey, as he’s given his body to the team each of the past two seasons now.

Looking ahead, the Aggies’ rushing attack will face a major test as they prepare to take on Arkansas this weekend. Possibly without Moss, A&M will lean heavier on the other playmakers and look for creative ways to get their running backs involved. How well they respond could determine whether Texas A&M remains in the hunt for College Football Playoff down the stretch.
