Marcel Reed confirmed he would return to Texas A&M as their QB in 2026, as he told Robert Griffin III on Outta Pocket. The Aggies are set for the first round of the College Football Playoff next week.

“I’m coming back,” Reed said. “I’ll be back.”

Reed was in the early conversation for the Heisman Trophy this season. While he didn’t maintain an absurd level, he had a solid regular season, leading the Aggies to an 11-1 record and the CFP this year, the first trip in program history.

This season, Reed had 2,932 yards, 25 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and a 61.8% completion percentage. He added 466 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns in 12 games.

As a member of the Class of 2023, Reed was a four-star recruit out of Nashville (Tenn.) Montgomery Bell Academy, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He was the No. 7 overall prospect in the state, the No. 20 quarterback in the class and the No. 329 overall prospect in the class.

Reed was recently plagued by an ankle injury, going into the season finale against Texas. Head coach Mike Elko revealed how much he was impacted by it vs. the Longhorns.

“I don’t think the ankle affected him,” Elko said. “I think he still ran the ball well. Until we got to the end of the game, I felt like he was doing the things we needed him to do. I thought we didn’t do a very good job of keeping clean pockets for him, and I feel like it got very, very gray for him trying to find routes and receivers. We’ve got to do a better job with that. But that’s kind of where we’re at.”

Reed and Texas A&M will focus on Miami coming up next week in the first round of the CFP. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, December 20th in College Station.
