Marcel Reed hints at a big incoming season for Kevin Concepcion

Texas A&M is going to have a lot back in the ground game with what it returns at quarterback, in the backfield, and on the offensive line. However, with a new-look receiving corps, wide receiver Kevin ‘KC’ Concepcion is the wideout who could have the biggest season as a target down in Aggieland.
In an appearance Thursday night on ‘SportsCenter,’ quarterback Marcel Reed was asked which of his teammates he was most excited to see play ahead of their year that opens in two weeks’ time. His answer was KC Concepcion, the transfer receiver who was one of the best players in the portal based on his underclassman seasons at NC State.
“Kevin Concepcion,” Reed chose. “I just mentioned him earlier, but you know, he’s one of our top receivers. You know, he has a history of being a really good receiver and I’m really excited to play beside him this year – get him the ball and get him some yards.”
Concepcion comes in after a pair of seasons where he was the leading pass-catcher with the Wolfpack. He finished his time in Raleigh with 124 receptions for 1,299 yards, at 52.0 yards per game and 10.5 yards per reception, and 16 touchdowns. That’s after taking a bit of a dip from his freshman season (71 catches, 839 yards, 10 touchdowns) to his sophomore one (53 catches, 460 yards, 6 touchdowns).

Still, upon entering the portal in December, Concepcion became one of the offseason’s top transfers as the No. 9 overall player and the No. 3 WR, behind only Eric Singleton Jr. (Auburn) and Zachariah Branch (Georgia), per On3’s 2025 Transfer Portal Players. Then, after a national recruitment, Concepcion committed to the Aggies before the calendar turned.
With that, Concepcion should come in as an instant impact at A&M, with outlets like Athlon Sports and Phil Steele projecting him this fall as a selection as All-SEC. That’d be no bigger for anyone than Reed, who looks to further develop his passing entering his first year as the Aggies’ full-time starting quarterback.
Concepcion, despite his sophomore regression, has been one of the country’s better receivers the past two years. He’ll now get to prove that further on a much bigger platform this season, taking the field in College Station.
