Mike Elko announces Holmon Wiggins will be elevated to Texas A&M offensive coordinator
Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko announced Monday that wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins will be elevated to the program’s full-time offensive coordinator position, per Billy Liucci of TexAgs.com..
The move comes after current offensive coordinator Collin Klein accepted the head coaching job at Kansas State. That forced the Aggies to make a key decision about the future of their offense entering the 2026 season. Elko stated that Texas A&M evaluated several options before ultimately deciding continuity was the best path forward.
He revealed the Aggies spoke with five external candidates during the process. In the end, Wiggins was the only coach to receive an official offer. That decision underscores the trust Elko has in Wiggins. He’s been part of the program since Elko’s arrival, and has played a significant role in shaping the offensive vision behind the scenes.
Wiggins joined Texas A&M after spending five seasons at Alabama, where he served as wide receivers coach. His background includes developing high-level talent at one of the sport’s premier programs, and his familiarity with SEC recruiting landscapes is expected to remain a major asset for the Aggies moving forward.
More on Holmon Wiggins, Texas A&M Aggies
Continuity figures to be the biggest advantage of the hire. Wiggins has been involved in game planning and scheme installation, allowing Texas A&M to maintain offensive stability rather than undergoing a full philosophical reset. That consistency should be especially valuable as the Aggies continue to build momentum under Elko.

However, the promotion does come with some unknowns. While Wiggins has extensive experience as an assistant and co-coordinator, this will be his first opportunity as a full-time playcaller at a place like College Station. How he handles that responsibility will be one of the most closely watched storylines for Texas A&M entering next season.
In the short term, nothing changes. Klein remains with the program and will continue to serve as offensive coordinator throughout Texas A&M’s College Football Playoff run. The Aggies open postseason play this Saturday at Kyle Field, hosting the Miami Hurricanes with a Noon ET kickoff.
All told, Wiggins’ official transition into the role will come after the conclusion of the CFP. That gives Texas A&M time to finish the season before fully turning the page to the next phase of Elko’s tenure in College Station.
