Texas A&M announces death of former DB Brian Williams

Former Texas A&M Aggies defensive back Brian Williams has passed away. The school announced his death via social media.
“Here,” The Texas A&M football account posted. “Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of former Texas A&M Football safety Brian Williams ‘24.”
He passed away over the weekend. The death appears to be related to a heat stroke incident. He reportedly ran a half-marathon in the state of Texas over the weekend. That event is where he suffered the fatal heat stroke. His brother Rawleigh would initially announce his passing on Instagram. Later, the death was confirmed by Jaxson Callaway of Aggies Today.
“B you are my heart,” Rawleigh Williams wrote. “The BEST version of us in every single way B. I don’t think I can make it without you but I’m going to try for our parents and our sister. I love you brother.”
After playing for Texas A&M from 2019 through 2021, Brian Williams was able to earn an engineering degree from Texas A&M last year. He’s since been working in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

In his playing career, Williams was a frequent contributor to Texas A&M on special teams while getting playing time in the Aggies’ secondary. That included appearing in 10 games in each of his first two seasons with the program. He’d finish his career with eight total tackles, including a sack.
At the time, Texas A&M was coached by Jimbo Fisher. During those three seasons, the Aggies would go a combined 25-10 overall and 16-9 in SEC play. That included a trip to the Orange Bowl, which they’d win. Texas A&M also appeared in the Texas Bowl and the Gator Bowl during that stretch.
Coming out of high school at Dallas’ Bishop Dunne High School, Williams was an Under Armor All-American and managed to get named to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Tops in Texas First Team. He was even named USA TODAY High School Sports Texas Defensive Player of the Year and First Team safety in 2017. Bishop Dunne assistant principal Michael Alfers has shared some thoughts following the unfortunate news as well.
“Everybody looked up to him not only just because of his accomplishments on the field, but just from the way he carried himself and the way he treated others,” Alfers said of Williams. “And he just always was kind of like a model student, a model young person in general.”
