According to TexAgs’ Ryan Brauninger, Texas A&M outfielder Caden Sorrell will return to the program for another season. Following a disappointing season, the Aggies are deciding to roll with head coach Michael Earley in 2026. And keeping Sorrell on the roster is a big-time decision in College Station.

“I have confirmed that outfielder Caden Sorrell will return to Texas A&M for his junior season, as expected,” Brauninger said via X.

Kendall Rogers of D1 Baseball added some commentary on the decision, saying, “This was pretty apparent when Sorrell didn’t enter the Transfer Portal before the House Settlement was approved, but it’s now official — Caden Sorrell is returning to @AggieBaseball.”

Sorrell wound up only playing in 26 games this past season but was quite productive when out there. He finished with an average of .337 in 95 at-bats, with some great power on display too. Of Sorrell’s 32 hits, 12 of them were home runs, while adding five doubles and a triple.

Texas A&M will gladly take back somebody with an OPS of 1.219, even if the numbers are not throughout the course of an entire campaign. The 25 strikeouts on the stat sheet are not great but can be dealt with when producing 16 walks.

Had Sorrell decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal, plenty of schools would have been after him. Two seasons of eligibility remain; however, Sorrell will be able to declare for the MLB Draft following the 2026 season. More likely than not, one final ride is in store with Texas A&M.

Michael Earley, Texas A&M looking to bounce back from disappointing 2025 season

When Jim Schlossnagle left for Austin, many wondered where Texas A&M would go. A quick response was provided by hiring Michael Earley and putting together one of the best on-paper rosters in college baseball. Many predicted the Aggies to win the national championship or placed them as the preseason No. 1.

Unfortunately, they failed to live up to expectations. A tough start to SEC play was too much to overcome as Texas A&M did not even make the NCAA Tournament. There was some hope for a moment but critical series losses closed the door before the regular season ended.

Now, everyone around the program is hoping for a massive bounce-back year. Earley will continue to acquire or, in this instance, retain talent for the 2026 roster. Once again, big things are going to be expected of Texas A&M.
