Texas A&M outfielder Jace LaViolette delivers clutch RBI while playing with broken hand

You hear about it from time to time, an athlete playing through a particularly painful injury to help his team. Texas A&M outfielder Jace LaViolette is the latest to take the cake.
Ruled out of the SEC Tournament just 24 hours earlier after suffering a broken bone in his hand, LaViolette and the team doctors reconvened to reassess his status. Because there was no further risk of injury to the hand beyond pain, they cleared him to play on Friday night against LSU.
And Jace LaViolette delivered in a hurry. In his second at-bat of the game, he had a chance to drive in a run.
After fouling off a couple pitches, LaViolette found one he liked. He muscled it down the first base line past LSU’s Jared Jones for an RBI single. That cut the LSU lead to 4-1 and started a mini rally for the Aggies. You can check out the hit below.
Jace LaViolette was originally expected to miss the remainder of the 2025 SEC Baseball Tournament with a broken left hand after being hit by a pitch in the fifth inning of Thursday’s second-round game against Auburn. Manager Michael Earley confirmed the news.
“He’ll be out for the remainder of the tournament,” Earley said. His comments came during a postgame hit on the SEC Network.

Jace LaViotte’s left hand was hit by a pitch during the fifth inning of Thursday’s 3-2 victory over the sixth-seeded Tigers. Things didn’t look good, initially.
After initially leaving the field following the injury, LaViolette returned to the A&M dugout with his left hand heavily bandaged. Earley later revealed X-rays confirmed LaViolette suffered a broken hand.
The plan at that point was to use Jace LaViolette as a potential pinch-runner to give the team a little extra juice. As it turns out, Texas A&M re-evaluated and he was thrust into the lineup as the designated hitter on Friday night.
On the season, Jace LaViolette is hitting .256 at the plate. He has logged 50 hits, nine doubles, 18 home runs. He has a .579 slugging percentage and a .430 OBP.
