Arch Manning injury update: Texas QB enters medical tent following TD run

After scoring the opening touchdown of the game, Texas quarterback Arch Manning entered the medical tent. Trainers met him on the sideline and started to make their way over to the tent. Manning looked hesitant to go the whole time, saying he was okay. But the SEC Network broadcast did catch him entering.
***UPDATE*** Thankfully, Manning came back in for the second drive of the game. There did not appear to be much doubt about his status, confidently walking out there with the first-team offense. For now, disaster averted for Texas.
The opening script for head coach Steve Sarkisian could not have started any better. Manning connected with Ryan Wingo for an explosive play, putting Texas inside the five-yard line. Sarkisian then dialed up a quarterback run, getting Manning into space. Mississippi State defenders did meet him around the line of scrimmage but Manning fell into the end zone.
Getting up after the hit, you can see a little hesitation from Manning. Certainly where a potential injury, if any, took place on the play.
Texas finds itself in a position where a win is needed. Play away from home is becoming quite normal at the moment, last playing in Austin on Sept. 20. But Starkville is anything but normal when it comes to atmospheres in the SEC. Off to a good start due to the Manning touchdown and more is needed.
Agency of Steve Sarkisian releases statement following reports of NFL interest
Before even getting to the stadium, Saturday got off to a weird start for Texas. Reports emerged regarding Sarkisian and his potential interest in taking an NFL job. Specifically, the Tennessee Titans after they fired Brian Callahan.

Not too long after, Sarkisianâs agency put out a statement on the matter. They say Sarkisian is âsolely focusedâ on being the Texas head coach.
âAny reports regarding communications on coaching opportunities with NFL teams are patently false and wildly inaccurate,â the statement read. âSark is solely focused on coaching the University of Texas football team.â
Sarkisian is in his fifth season and is fresh off back-to-back College Football Playoff appearances. Both resulted in tough semifinal losses, being quite close to appearing in the national championship game. While many thought Texas would be back in that position in 2025, it has not worked out as such thus far.
The college football coaching carousel can produce almost anything. If nothing else, Sarkisianâs future is something to watch as the offseason grows closer.
