Arch Manning, Parker Livingstone injury update: Steve Sarkisian reveals new ailment for star QB

Coming out of Saturday’s loss to Florida, there are a couple of injuries for Texas to deal with moving forward. One is quarterback Arch Manning, who Steve Sarkisian revealed is dealing with a shoulder issue. Not enough to take him off the field but at one point, Manning did enter the medical tent.
“Kind of got a stinger on his shoulder,” Sarkisian said of Manning via On3 | Rivals’ Inside Texas. “That’s why he went to the tent and came back out. He did take some hits. I thought Arch competed today. He battled his butt off.”
The second is wide receiver Parker Livingstone, who limped off the field in the first half after connecting with Manning on a big play. X-rays were negative on the second-year wide receiver, being a positive for the Longhorns. Sarkisian does not believe anything serious will come out of the lower-leg injury.
“Just couldn’t quite return,” Sarkisian said. “I don’t think he has anything serious.”
Texas and its early-season offensive struggles are well-documented. Getting a spark from Manning and Livingstone was a bright spot, though, needing it to continue vs. a talented Florida defense. Due to the wide receiver’s injury, they wound up connecting twice for a total of 47 yards.
Manning finished the game throwing for 263 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. He did not get much time in the pocket to deliver throws, let alone deep balls. Not much went right at the line of scrimmage for Texas, as Manning saw too much blue in his face.

More on connection between Arch Manning, Parker Livingstone
Livingstone entered Saturday as the team’s leading receiver. In total, 11 catches for 232 yards and three touchdowns for the two roommates before the bye week. Everyone in Austin hopes they can once again find something moving forward. Of course, Manning needs to get completely healthy himself.
Especially considering what game is next on the schedule. Texas travels up I-35 to the Cotton Bowl for the annual Red River Shootout against the Oklahoma Sooners. Always the biggest game on the schedule, stakes suddenly are a little higher from a big-picture standpoint. Beginning SEC play 0-2 would be a disaster for the Longhorns.
We are already monitoring the health status of one quarterback in the matchup, OU’s John Mateer, after getting surgery on his throwing hand. Now, there may be something to watch when it comes to Manning’s shoulder.
