Arch Manning reacts to upset of Oklahoma, gives Tre Wisner game ball

For the second consecutive season, Texas came away with a dominant victory over Oklahoma in the ‘Red River Rivalry’. Although it fell behind 6-0, the Longhorns outscored the Sooners 23-0 over the final two-and-a-half quarters to earn their first victory over a Power-Four program this season.
Running back Tre Wisner was the star of the show for Texas, rushing for 94 yards on 22 carries. Following the game, quarterback Arch Manning spoke highly of the Glenn Heights, TX native.
“It was tough. I’m proud of our team for coming together,” Manning said. “Tre Wisner … it’s all about him. I’m just proud of our team. I wish we could play like this every week going forward. It’s going to be a fun season. I had a lot of fun. Our fans are great, this guy’s great. We’re having fun tonight.”
Wisner enjoyed a big game against Oklahoma last year as well. In Texas‘ 34-3 blowout, the then-sophomore rushed for 118 yards and one touchdown on 13 carries.
“It’s always hard,” Wisner said following the win. “Knowing what’s at stake, knowing that the defense knows you’re going to run the ball and to still come out and execute at a high level. I give our props to my teammates, man. My defense, the coaches, the o-line, the quarterback. Everybody’s just coming in and doing their job.”
Oklahoma win was step in the right direction for Texas
Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns have received a boatload of criticism this season after losing their lone two games against Power-Four competition (Ohio State and Florida). They however broke through that stat on Saturday with the win over their rival. In the win, Texas out-gained Oklahoma 302-258 and converted four more third-down conversions.

With the win, the Longhorns now sit at 4-2 on the season. With a schedule consisting of matchups against No. 5 Texas A&M, No. 10 Georgia and No. 20 Vanderbilt remaining, a 10-2 (7-1) Texas team would have a strong case to make its third consecutive College Football Playoff appearance.
“This would be a huge step in the right direction for Texas, but it’s also a baby step,” ESPN‘s Heather Dinich said on Friday morning’s ‘Get Up‘. “Think about this; this would be the first win against a Power Four opponent and their first win against a ranked opponent.”
“Members of the selection committee will look at how Arch Manning and that offensive line played against one of the best defenses in the country. “Also, remember Oklahoma has the No. 1 toughest schedule. So if the Sooners win, it’ll be cushion for them down the stretch.”
The Longhorns will look to turn their ‘Red River’ win into two wins next weekend in Lexington against Kentucky.
