Archie Manning praises Arch Manning, reacts to Texas season in 2025

There might not be a more visible family in football than the Mannings. From Archie Manning to Arch Manning and everyone in between, the one constant is support. You always hear about the Mannings supporting each other, even if college football alliances fall in different places.
Another example came on Thursday when Archie was speaking about Arch’s season at Texas thus far. He praised his grandson for working through what turned out to be a difficult stretch for the Longhorns. Mixed in there was a concussion, although no missed games took place.
“I haven’t been to but one game, so I’m home,” Archie Manning said of watching Arch via Up and Adams. “It’s hard. It’s really hard. We pull for him so hard. They’ve had some protection problems this year and struggled in a few games. So, we’re proud of him and he’s handled everything really well.”
Eli Manning was also present on the call, revealing there is actually a family group chat. Texts begin to fire off when Arch is out on the field. Everyone in the Manning family appears to be bought in on Texas — possibly because there have been no matchups between their grandson/nephew/cousin and Ole Miss or Tennessee.
“We have a great family chat with all the brothers, all my nephews, my nieces,” Eli Manning said. “We’re all pulling for Arch. It’s a fun time that we kind of gather on Saturdays now. We watch Ole Miss, we get to watch Texas. I got my son, Charlie, dialed in. He’s got his full Texas gear on. So, we’re rooting for him hard.”

Arch Manning and the rest of the family do get a Saturday off. Texas takes a bye week before playing the final three games of the regular season. All of them figure to be intense battles too, going up against Georgia in Athens before two rivalry games at home vs. Arkansas and Texas A&M.
Not a bad time for some rest, especially after his best game of the season. Manning threw for 328 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions while completing just under 76% of his throws with a top-10 Vanderbilt on the other side.
Either way, Archie is proud of what Arch has been able to accomplish in his first season as the starter. Who knows, maybe another trip to Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium is on the agenda for the coming weeks.
