Emmett Mosley injury update: Texas WR's status revealed vs. San Jose State

Texas wide receiver Emmett Mosley is set to miss Saturday’s game against San Jose State, On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed. He is still dealing with a lower body injury, which also kept him out of the season opener against Ohio State.
Mosley arrived in Austin this year after transferring from Stanford, where had 48 receptions to lead ACC freshmen. He also had 525 receiving yards and six touchdowns before entering the transfer portal.

After hitting the open market, Mosley became the No. 125 overall player in the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings and the No. 24-ranked wide receiver. However, his Texas debut will have to wait as he continues to work his way back from the injury.
“For him, the growth is going to be as the season continues to go,” Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said of Emmett Mosley last week ahead of the opener against Ohio State. “I always think back to Matt Golden last year, where, going into the season, I don’t think I even fielded a question about him before the first couple of games. By the end of the year, he was the topic of discussion. His evolution as the season goes on is going to be really important as he gets more and more comfortable with us.”

Texas is coming off a close loss to Ohio State in last week’s Week 1 matchup, which marked the first game for Arch Manning as the Longhorns’ full-time starting quarterback. He had an up-and-down performance as he went 17 of 30 passes for 170 yards, a touchdown and a pick.
However, Sarkisian said he still saw some flashes of what Manning can be as he takes the keys to the offense. The former top recruit has a bright future, said Sarkisian, who also saw plenty of learning opportunities for his young quarterback.
“We saw some real flashes and glimpses of the type of player that he’s going to become here,” Sarkisian said in the postgame press conference. “Sure, he’s going to watch the tape and say ‘man, I wish this. I wish that.’ That’s the life of a competitor, but I think there’s a lot to hold onto of what the future is going to look like for Arch Manning here.”
