Isaiah Bond injury update: Status, severity of Texas WR injury revealed, per agent

For most of the game, Texas has been playing without star wide receiver Isaiah Bond. He went down injured after being spun around by an Oklahoma defender on an incomplete pass from quarterback Quinn Ewers. Staying down on the ground for a few seconds, he was immediately attended to by trainers.
Bond has not been back on the field since then and according to his agent, his day is done. Bond will not return to the game against Oklahoma but there is still good news as the injury does not appear to be too serious.
“Just spoke to @isaiahbond_,” Damien S. Butler, Bond’s agent, said via X. “He’s out for the rest of the game but nothing major.”
Being in his first season with Texas, Bond was in the midst of experiencing the Red River Shootout for the first time as a player. The injury caused him to go to the locker room and as mentioned, never return to the field. One reception for five yards is as much as Bond was able to contribute.

Steve Sarkisian has a big-time rivalry game to close out, hoping to get the Golden Hat for the second time in his tenure as the Texas head coach. However, questions will be immediately asked about Bond’s health moving forward. There is no slowing down in the schedule, beginning with a massive showdown against Georgia next Saturday.
In a game where Ewers has looked shaky at times, losing one of his favorite targets would be a big blow against one of the nation’s top defenses. Bond provides too much speed and playmaking speed to not be considered a potential massive loss for the Longhorns. Even if other receivers step up, not many provide the skillet Bond does mixed with a good amount of experience.
Once the game in Dallas goes final, all eyes will be on the wide receiver’s health. For now, they play play down the stretch against Oklahoma without him.
