Jahdae Barron highlights how Steve Sarkisian changed culture at Texas

Head coach Steve Sarkisian didn’t transform Texas into a national championship contender by accident. During an appearance on SportsCenter, Texas defensive back Jahdae Barron revealed how Sarkisian has transformed the Longhorns’ culture since taking over in 2021.
“Just for me being here since 2020, I’ve seen it change — ultimately, like a big change,” Barron said. “The brotherhood that we have, the bond we have and the chemistry we have — in order to trust somebody on the field, you have to trust them off the field. I think we’ve created that level of bond of trusting one another off the field.
“When we go out there, we’re playing for one another. We’re not playing for ourselves. We’re not, ultimately, just playing for the name on our back. We’re playing for the name across our chest. So, I think that’s what just helps us get through the games and tough games.”
The Longhorns’ bond is evident on the field. Texas is 6-0 this season and has won all of its games this season by three scores or more. Most recently, the Longhorns dominated Oklahoma 34-3 in the Red River Rivalry.

In his fifth year with the program, Barron has been a key leader on the field for the Longhorns. He boasts 22 tackles, four passes defended and one interception this season, which he returned for 30 yards.
Texas will need Barron to be at his best this Saturday as it squares off against No. 5 Georgia. Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck has tallied 1,818 passing yards this season, the ninth-most in the nation. He’ll be looking to add to his totals against the Longhorns.
Jahdae Barron’s ready for the challenge as long as he has his fellow Longhorns by his side.
“We’ve been through so much. We went through culture Wednesdays and our things we do, just asking each other about our lives, and just knowing each other, what we’ve been through when we were little,” Barron said. “That’s what’s brought us here and we’re just trying to keep it going.”
Texas and Georgia will go head-to-head at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The game will air live on ABC.
