Quinn Ewers identifies his greatest strength, areas of improvement

Quinn Ewers’ strengths outweigh his weaknesses, and when asked to detail both aspects of his game, the Texas Longhorns starting quarterback was easily able to identify his strengths – but was equally swift in detailing the weaker spots as well.
With just one week remaining until Ewers makes his debut on the Forty Acres, the former Five-Star Plus+ quarterback’s answer seems to be a sign of maturity for the blue-chip redshirt freshman.
“I think the strongest part of my game is you can never tell if we’re down by three touchdowns or if we’re up by five touchdowns, I feel like I’m pretty even keeled when it comes to playing football,” Ewers said about his strengths.
Regarding his weaknesses, Ewers didn’t refer to his abilities on the gridiron, but rather behind the scenes with his leadership abilities.

“Being more that vocal leader,” Ewers said of areas in need of improvement. “I feel like I’m a good leader by example, but just taking that extra step and being more vocal … It’s a big step and it’s a big change from what I’m used to. Going back to the good group of people that I have behind me and these great teammates, I feel like I have a good group of friends and a good group of people behind me.”

On the field, however, Ewers is one of the hottest preseason commodities throughout all of college football. The No. 1 overall player in the 2021 On3 Consensus and a Five-Star Plus+ prospect, Ewers transferred to Texas from Ohio State after he spent one season in Columbus. He was previously committed to Texas in high school before switching his decision to the Buckeyes after coaching changes within the Longhorns program.
Originally a member of the class of 2022, Ewers re-classified to 2021 and enrolled at Ohio State just before the 2021 season started in order to begin his college career and take advantage of NIL opportunities not available to him in Texas as a high school athlete.
Touted as one of the best quarterbacks in the nation despite his inexperience, all eyes will be on Ewers and the Longhorns with expectations through the roof entering the 2022 college football season.
