Bijan Robinson is leaving Austin in favor of the NFL, projecting to be a first-round pick. Widely considered the best running back in the country, Texas will have a crucial piece to replace before the fall. Have no fear though, Tashard Choice has built a deep room, including freshman Cedric Baxter.

Robinson and Baxter will never share the field together as Longhorns but had the opportunity to connect during Texas’ Pro Day. Neither was participating but still made an appearance to support fellow teammates. The two are even rocking similar haircuts these days and got to show them off on Thursday.

A video was posted of the two former five-star prospects dapping each other up. A potential passing of the torch is in store, with Baxter hoping to become the latest running back to perform well under head coach Steve Sarkisian.

You can catch the full moment here.

Baxter played high school football at Orlando (FL) Edgewater, where he was a five-star prospect. He was the No. 30 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Texas running back room set up for success in 2023

Robinson is not the only running back leaving the 40 Acres for the NFL. Roschon Johnson is expected to be a draft pick as well after an impressive four years at Texas. The duo was as dangerous as anything you would see across college football.

Thankfully for Texas, there is some talent already participating in spring practice. Baxter will have high expectations, even as a true freshman. If he can live up to the recruiting ranking, as Robinson did, he will be a great player for the Longhorns.

Jonathon Brooks will be the presumed starter as well, flashing in spurts in his first two years on campus. Keilan Robinson returns as well, adding an element of speed on the outside. Exciting times are ahead for Texas.
