Texas football players reacts to new state-of-the-art locker room

There has been a long-term arms race in college sports to build the best facilities. Naturally, the Texas Longhorns are among those teams that have excellent facilities, and they seem to have just gotten better.
Texas has introduced some new facilities, which the team is clearly excited about. The Longhorns took to social media. There, they shared the reaction from the team as they were introduced to their new state-of-the-art locker room.
In the video, Texas players can be seen celebrating and excited. The primary focus is on their reaction. However, you can also see some of the facilities themselves. That includes players’ lockers, which have recliners attached to each one individually.
In June of 2024, Texas broke ground on a new practice facility for the program. At the time, athletic director Chris Del Conte explained that the upgrades were long overdue.
“We needed to address our football practice facility,” Del Conte said. “We have a bubble that was built in the early 2000s. Our student-athletes have to leave the stadium and walk… a little under 800 yards to the practice field, and it’s just not conducive to time management.”

That facility upgrade comes just ahead of Texas’ second season in the SEC. It’s also a season where there are massive expectations for the program as a whole. The Longhorns are opening the season as one of the favorites to win the SEC, make the College Football Playoff, and compete for a national championship. After two straight seasons making the semifinal, that should be no surprise, though. Hopefully, these new facilities help them get over that hump.
Paul Finebaum debates whether Texas can handle high expectations in 2025
The expectations are very high for Texas next season. That can be difficult to live up to, but ESPN’s Paul Finebaum thinks this team is ready to thrive.
“They have been so good for a couple of years. They’ve recruited well, they’ve done well almost every year, and I think [Steve] Sarkisian brought some of this on by talking about his roster. We all react to it. I mean, everybody gets a little more interested when we see that first poll, and I think we’ll be more interested a couple weeks from now when the AP Poll comes out,” Finebaum said.
“I think in Texas’ case, they just have gotten there by virtue of being the team that’s been to the playoffs the last two years. I can talk in circles for the rest of the time, but I know you have other guests, but it’s just a perception. And yesterday was the first time that Alabama didn’t get the benefit of the doubt. Somebody said to me yesterday, ‘Where would Alabama be with the exact same roster and Nick Saban as coach?’”
