Texas linebacker Anthony Hill reveals standout games on 2025 schedule

Anthony Hill enters his third season in Austin with the Texas Longhorns, the second of which is in the SEC. Hill projects as one of the top linebackers in college football, hoping to once again produce incredible defensive results. Given the schedule, it’s not going to be easy, though.
Hill was made available to the media on Tuesday, getting asked which games stand out to him. Three SEC showdowns get mentioned, along with the season opener against the Ohio State Buckeyes. He knows the challenges will start right away.
“Texas Longhorns linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. pointed out Vanderbilt, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Florida as games that stand out to him on the schedule,” Zach Dimmit of LonghornsSI said via X.
All four of those opponents showed up on the 2024 schedule, combining for a 3-1 record. Ohio State was the lone loss, coming during the College Football Playoff semifinals. But Texas took care of business against the other three, winning by an average of 22 points.
Some different challenges will come this go-round. Both Florida and Oklahoma are hoping to improve heading into critical years. Gainesville will get to host as well after the Gators visited Austin last year. Per usual, the Cotton Bowl in Dallas will be home of the Red River Shootout.

Vanderbilt is a home game and of the SEC teams mentioned by Hill, the one that gave Texas the toughest battle when looking at the scoreboard. Just three points separated the two. Maybe it’s one where the Longhorns want to be a little more focused heading in.
However, the biggest eye-opener in Hill’s answer might be a team he did not mention. No sign of the in-state rival, Texas A&M, from him. It’s a matchup heading back to Austin for the first time since 2010, also the last time the Aggies emerged victorious.
Of course, there is some history between Hill and Texas A&M. He was a long-time commit when Jimbo Fisher was still in College Station before deciding to flip over to Texas. A massive flip for Steve Sarkisian at the time, the decision has worked out for Hill.
You to to imagine when Nov. 27 comes, Hill will be fired up to walk into Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Not only will a massive rival be on the other side but it’s likely Hill’s final regular season game at Texas before leaving in favor of the NFL.
