A win is required to stay in Oklahoma City for both the Arizona Wildcats and Texas Longhorns. Both are considered historical softball programs as they are battling it out in an elimination game on Sunday night. Thus far, it’s been a pitcher’s duel but Texas was able to find a rare run in the third inning.

With nobody out and down in the count 1-2, Courtney Day got ahold of one right over the plate and sent it to deep center field. It flew over the wall, giving the Longhorns a 1-0 lead and all of the momentum.

You can watch the full play here.

Since the home run, Arizona has responded and is threatening in the fourth inning. The Wildcats lead 2-1 and could possibly put more on the board.

This is the first matchup of the Women’s College World Series between Arizona and Texas and it’s an important one. Both Oklahoma schools have gotten the better of them, with the Cowboys taking down the former and the Sooners winning a softball Red River Rivalry.

Whoever ends up on the losing end will be packing their bag and heading back home, while the winner will get another shot at reaching the championship round. Oklahoma State will be on the other end, needing to win just one game to advance.
