Texas Longhorns starting outfielder Tommy Farmer IV has entered the Transfer Portal. He spent the last two seasons with the Longhorns.

A native of Santa Monica, California, Farmer played his high school baseball at Oaks Christian. There, he was a four-year letter winner and was a two-time All-League honoree. Perfect Game listed him as the 106th-ranked outfielder and the 500th-ranked player overall in his recruiting cycle. He was also the 81st-ranked player in the state of California.

As a sophomore in 2025, Farmer became a starter for the Longhorns. He appeared in 58 games, starting 48 of them last season. Over the course of that season, he hit .249 with a .371 OBP and a .339 slugging percentage. That’s good for a 0.710 OPS in 2025. It came on the back of one home run, 13 doubles, and 25 RBIs. Farmer struck out 65 times and walked 25 times to go with seven stolen bases.

On the defensive end, Farmer had a .987 fielding percentage. That came on one error, one assist, and 73 putouts.

The Texas Longhorns are coming off a season with several highs but also a difficult end to the season. They’d go 44-14 with a 22-8 record in SEC play. That was good enough to win the conference in the regular season. At one point, Texas was 19-1 in SEC play before going 3-7 to end the season in conference play. As the number two overall seed, Texas would host a Regional and get upset there by UTSA.

Not making Omaha ended up being a disappointment for Texas. However, first-year head coach Jim Schlossnagle doesn’t think that made it a bad season.

“I was proud of the way our guys competed. Pretty banged up, which every team is,” Schlossnagle said. “But really proud of our team, and as I just told them, no disrespect to the teams in the past but this is the first team that Texas has ever had to play through the SEC. To be an SEC Champion and to host a Regional, we all understand Omaha is where we all want to end up, but when you go 44-14 in our league, it doesn’t make it a bad season. Just not the right ending.”

Tommy Farmer IV is now preparing to find a new school for the 2026 college season. Schlossnagle and Texas, meanwhile, will need to find an outfielder to replace his production.
