Texas pitcher Aiden Moffett has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. He previously pitched at LSU.

Moffett spent two years at LSU before arriving at Texas in 2025. He appeared in six games as a junior, throwing four innings and striking out seven hitters while finishing with a 2.25 ERA. He also allowed just one hit during that time.

As a sophomore at LSU in 2024, Moffett made 16 appearances and started out the year with five straight scoreless showings. He had an 0-1 record and had 21 strikeouts across 17.2 innings pitched before entering the portal and committing to Texas.

Aiden Moffett starred at Taylorsville (MS) before arriving at LSU in 2023. He was a five-year letterman and was a team captain as a senior. A two-time All-State selection, he went 16-6 with a 1.65 ERA while recording 305 strikeouts during his career. Taylorsville also won the 2021 state title.

Texas won the SEC championship in Jim Schlossnagle’s first season as head coach. The Longhorns went 44-18 overall and 22-8 in conference play to secure the conference title and host a regional in the NCAA Tournament. However, their season came to an end in the Austin Regional with a loss to UTSA.

“I feel like that compared to where we started to where we are today, this program is in really good shape and headed in the right direction. I feel confident that our coaching staff, given the situation, got the most out of our team,” Schlossnagle said following the Longhorns’ elimination from the NCAA Tournament. “… Our coaching staff’s job is to put ourselves in position to get to Omaha. We did that, but we just didn’t execute in the games needed to win the regional.”

Since the season ended, Texas has been active in the transfer portal. The Longhorns made quite a splash earlier this week when they landed former Wake Forest pitcher Hunter Leffew.

This past season, Leffew went 4-1 with a 4.46 ERA. He had 34.1 innings pitched, gave up 35 hits, 22 runs – 17 of which were earned – while issuing 18 walks and totaling 59 strikeouts.

Leffew appeared in 18 games and made three starts as a freshman. He recorded 38 strikeouts in 35.1 innings of work and finished the season 3-0 while holding opposing hitters to a .221 batting average against.
