Texas running back Bijan Robinson injured in Iowa State game

Texas star running back Bijan Robinson left the Texas-Iowa State game after he took a brutal hit in the fourth quarter, forcing him to fumble the football–his second one of the game. Robinson was down on the field for a few minutes before he was eventually helped off the field by trainers.
He then made his way back to the Texas locker room with the Longhorns’ medical staff. Robinson was receiving plenty of attention for the Heisman Trophy in 2021.
Per On3’s Joe Cook, Robinson’s X-Rays were negative and he had a neck strain.
In the first quarter against Iowa State, Robinson carried the ball for six yards to gain exactly 1,000 rushing yards on the season.
Check out the graphic below from Texas football.
He began the day with 967 rushing yards, good enough for the eighth most rushing yards in FBS for 2021. In eclipsing the 1,000 yard mark, he became only the second Longhorn in a decade to accomplish the feat, joining former Texas running back D’Onta Foreman.
The Longhorns lost the game, 30-7 and really couldn’t get anything going on offense. Robinson had over 120 all-purpose yards in the game with no touchdowns, before exiting with an injury in the fourth quarter.
There was a lot of hype surrounding him before he even touched a football his freshman year at Texas, but he didn’t disappoint.

The hype surrounding Robinson has only continued to grow in the 2021 season and his head coach Steve Sarkisian has even compared him to Reggie Bush, one of the top college running backs of all time.
Robinson as a high school prospect
He eviscerated defenses for over 7,000 total rushing yards at Salpointe Catholic (Tuscon, Arizona). The 6-foot, 215-pounder became the state of Arizona’s all-time rushing yardage leader (7,036) and all-time touchdown leader (114). He rushed for over 2,000 rushing yards in his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. The gifted tailback is the first player to win the Ed Doherty Award–given to Arizona’s best high school football player—twice.
