Total contract bonus revealed for Rodney Terry following 2023-24 season

Texas saw its season end Saturday as it fell in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to No. 2 seed Tennessee. With that, Longhorns coach Rodney Terry now knows what his total bonus will be for his accomplishments this year.
According to Steve Berkowitz of USA Today, Terry is set to make $75,000 in bonuses following the 21-12 finish to the season. He led Texas to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season and has now compiled a 43-20 overall record in his two years as head coach.
Terry took over midway through the 2022-23 season after coach Chris Beard was let go. He went on to take them to the Elite Eight and agreed to a five-year contract that would remove his interim tag and make him the official head coach. The deal was reportedly worth $15.3 million.
Texas took Tennessee down to the wire Saturday before suffering the 62-58 loss. Tyrese Hunter and Chendall Weaver tied for the team-high with 13 points in the loss.
Free throws wound up being the difference, with Dalton Knecht playing the hero in the waning seconds. Making four shots sent the Volunteers into the Sweet Sixteen for the second season in a row, a great accomplishment under Rick Barnes.

Now Terry will prepare to lead Texas into the SEC, where it will have a chance to get its revenge against the Vols in 2024-25.
Rodney Terry, Rick Barnes share moment following NCAA Tournament matchup
Rick Barnes and Rodney Terry might’ve been foes on Saturday night, as they coached their respective squads against each other in the NCAA Tournament with a trip to the Sweet 16 on the line. But after Barnes and Tennessee prevailed over Terry and Texas, 62-58, the former colleagues were sure to share an embrace.
Barnes hired Terry on to his coaching staff at Texas in 2002 and the duo worked together for 10 years there. And in that time, both surely became close, as evidenced by a message that Terry appeared to say to Barnes as they ended their embrace.
“Go win the whole thing,” Terry appeared to say to Barnes.
The Volunteers could be positioned to do just that, as the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region is now just a pair of wins away from reaching the Final Four.
