WATCH: Marcus Carr drains half-court shot at end of first half

The Virginia Tech–Texas game in the first round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament was a wild one in the first half, with both teams trading blows. Texas guard Marcus Carr drained a shot from beyond half-court at the buzzer to put Texas up, 34-32 at haltime.

Andrew Jones was blistering hot in the first half for the Longhorns, connecting on 5-of-6 three-pointers. 15 of his 17 first half points came from beyond-the-arc. The Longhorns hit 53.8 percent of their three-point attempts in the first half (7-of-13). The leading scorer at the end of the first half for Virginia Tech was Keve Aluma, who pumped in eight points and grabbed four rebounds for the Hokies.
Carr has yet again proven to be one of the best point guards in America during the 2021-2022 college basketball season. He pumped in 15 points, dished out nine assists, and also grabbed two steals in Friday night’s 81-73 win for the Longhorns.
Carr transferred to Texas from Minnesota
Carr played and started all 60 games during his time with Minnesota. The 6-2, 195-pounder averaged 17.4 points per game and 5.8 assists per game for the Golden Gophers. His 5.8 assists per game currently ranks first in Golden Gopher basketball history. The talented point guard also posted a 2.32 assist-to-turnover ratio while at Minnesota.

Last year as a redshirt junior during the 2020-2021 season, Carr once again established himself as one of the premiere players in the Big Ten Conference. He ranked first in the Big Ten in minutes played (35.8 minutes per game), third in scoring (19.4 points per game), and assists (4.9 assists per game).
Before Minnesota, Carr also played at Pittsburgh. As a freshman, averaged 10.0 points per game, 4.0 assists per game, and 2.8 rebounds per game.
