WATCH: Texas players celebrate following win looking for Golden Hat trophy

Texas beat Oklahoma for the first time since 2018. On top of that, they didn’t just beat Oklahoma, they blew the Sooners out. That meant that the Longhorns got to celebrate with the Golden Hat Trophy, given out to the winning team.
In a video posted to Twitter by the Texas team account, Devin Richardson is shown looking for the Golden Hat, asking, “Where the hat at?” You can watch the video here:
Several other players in the video can be seen looking for the Golden Hat and celebrating with teammates and fans. In the video, you can see the joy and passion Texas had following the game. After four straight losses to Oklahoma, you can’t blame these players, either.
DeMarvion Overshown explained what the win meant to Texas
Very few players on Texas have had the chance to hoist the Golden Hat before 2022. At this point, it was only fifth-year players like DeMarvion Overshown have been able to do so. Because of this, the win was incredibly important for the whole team, especially those fifth-year seniors.

“For me and (Anthony) Cook both our freshman year was the last time we got to touch that hat, so going out our senior year and with that hat in Austin, it means a lot more to us,” Overshown said.
“Just credit to the coaches, they told us early on in the week they were going to write the script and we had to make the movie. They put us in positions to execute and we was able to go out there and now when people ask us about our senior year, what happened with the OU game, we tell them with a smile on our face. Yeah let’s go ahead and sit down.”
