Former Wichita State slugger Josh Livingston has committed to Jim Schlossnagle and the Texas Longhorns, his advisor tells On3’s Pete Nakos.

Livingston slashed .284/.403/.555 during the 2025 season with the Shockers. He totaled 25 extra base hits (15 home runs) and logged 48 RBIs. He hit 26 home runs across two seasons with the program.

Livingston played 56 games for the Shockers in 2025. He split time largely at first and second base, but was more active in the middle of the infield with 37 matchups covering second base. Livingston made two starts at third base as well. He made the switch after mostly playing first base as a true freshman.

His jump in production came after playing in the California Collegiate League (CACL) last summer. Playing for Arroyo Seco Saints, Livingston batted an inflated .320 average with 31 hits, 23 RBIs and four home runs. The successful stint saw the Saints make it to the quarterfinals of the league playoffs.

He’s joining a team who finished the 2025 baseball season with a 44-14 record with a 22-8 mark against SEC competition. In the end, Texas would earn a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament, but saw their season end prematurely in the Austin Regional. Despite the disappointing end to his first year with the program, head coach Jim Schlossnagle was able to reflect on his first season at the helm of the Texas baseball program. Now, Livingston will be a part of that effort.

“I feel like that compared to where we started to where we are today, this program is in really good shape and headed in the right direction. I feel confident that our coaching staff, given the situation, got the most out of our team,” Schlossnagle said following the Longhorns’ elimination from the NCAA Tournament. “… Our coaching staff’s job is to put ourselves in position to get to Omaha. We did that, but we just didn’t execute in the games needed to win the regional.”
