Pittsburgh transfer tight end Jake Renda commits to UCLA

Pittsburgh Panthers transfer tight end Jake Renda has a new home in the Big Ten, committing to join the UCLA Bruins via the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. He caught two passes for 23 yards during his collegiate career.
He played high school football at IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1134 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
While he didn’t make a major impact at Pittsburgh, Jake Renda will be hoping for more success in 2025 out West. UCLA will be his new home, and we’ll see if he can reach his full potential with the Bruins.

More on UCLA, NCAA Transfer Portal
Meanwhile, UCLA has also landed another NCAA transfer portal commitment, this one from Anthony Jones, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Previously playing for a trio of schools inside the Big Ten, Jones will not be leaving the conference. A nice pickup for head coach Deshaun Foster as the Bruins continue to be active in the spring window.
“BREAKING: Michigan State transfer EDGE Anthony Jones has Committed to UCLA, he tells @on3sports,” Fawcett said via X. “The 6’4 260 EDGE has totaled 38 Tackles & 2 Sacks in his college career thus far. 2 years of eligibility remaining.”

Jones played high school football at Las Vegas (NV) Liberty, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 570 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
This is the third time Jones has gone through the transfer portal process, spending just one season at all of his stops. Oregon won his recruitment coming out of high school, appearing in two games and taking a redshirt.
Indiana was next up for the EDGE rusher, getting four starts over the course of 12 games. Jones then went to the other side of the Old Brass Spittoon Trophy rivalry to play for the Spartans. Considered a redshirt sophomore, it was another season with 12 games played for Jones.
Throughout the 26 games played, Jones has recorded 38 tackles, four tackles for a loss, and two sacks. Production has continued to climb over the years and UCLA will be hoping for the same heading into the 2025 season.
