Erik Mckinney from WeAreSc Full Interview with Andy Staples | USC Wraps Up Regular Season, What's Next | 11.19.23

The biggest question around the basketball court at USC is when Bronny James will make his debut as a Trojan. It won’t be tonight when they match up with Brown but, even so, those inside the Galen Center did witness a welcome sight in regards to their freshman guard.

Ahead of the contest with the Bears, James took the court to participate in warm ups with his teammates. Again, he is not set to play tonight but, all in all, it looks like a step in the right direction for the former four-star recruit.

James hasn’t played in any of the Trojans’ first three games so far following an episode of cardiac arrest back in the summer. He has been recovering since and does intend to play at some point during this season but, at this point, there has been no designated date for his return.

It’s worth noting that the post also provided updates on a pair of veterans in Boogie Ellis and Kobe Johnson. Both players missed the last game for USC a week ago – a 10-point loss to UC Irvine. Both took part in warm ups as well and have both since made their respective returns for the team against the Bears on Sunday.

James has drawn so much attention to USC with his presence alone. All that’s left is for him to take the floor which, based on this video, could potentially be sometime soon.

Andy Enfield on James’ status: ‘Not my place’

With USC’s season underway, many want answers regarding the status of one Bronny James. However, at this point, Andy Enfield has nothing he feels that he should say about the matter.

Enfield answered a question about James’ status after his team’s second win of the season – an 85-59 victory over CSU Bakersfield. He felt that, considering all things, it still wasn’t up to him to say anything regarding the health of his star freshman.

“I can’t really comment on that. That’s not my place to do that right now,” said Enfield.

“The family will come out with a statement when the time is right. But Bronny is a big part of our team,” said Enfield.

James, the famed son of LeBron James, is a former four-star and Top-25 prospect out of Sierra Canyon, which is just up the road from USC.

USC is 2-1 with a 13-point win over Kansas State, the 26-point victory over the Roadrunners, and a 10-point loss to UC Irvine, in large part due to being undermanned, under their belt.
