Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia emerged as one of the breakout personalities in all of college football last season, highlighted by his stellar performance in the Commodores’ 40-35 upset win over the then No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide.

Pavia, who transferred to Vanderbilt from New Mexico State, attended Volcano Vista High School in Albuquerque, NM but did not receive a collegiate offer from New Mexico in high school. After transferring to New Mexico State from JUCO New Mexico Military Institute, Pavia let his frustrations with the lack of communication with his dream school get the best of him.

“I lived in New Mexico my whole life so I wanted to play against the Lobos,” Pavia said during an appearance on Bussin’ with the Boys. “The first year I was in and out of the lineup with this other kid and the only game I did not get play in was against the Lobos. So the next year I was like ‘this is a money game.'”

Pavia reveals what actually went down

“Before the year, I [urinated] on their Lobo in the midfield of their indoor [facility]. Before the game, no-one said anything about it and they were using it as fuel and they thought they were gonna beat us and use it against me after. Anyway, we went in there and wiped them out and the head coach was all sad and stuff. But I really had something against them because they didn’t recruit me either out of JUCO and I won a National Championship and they were still losing. So it was like real life beef with the coaches.”

In that game against rival New Mexico, Pavia threw for 203 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-17 win over the Lobos.

“There was no thoughts,” Pavia said when asked about his thought process by co-host and former NFL linebacker Will Compton. “It was no thinking. It was just f*** these guys.”

Pavia likely would have gotten away with the ‘incident’, had it not been for a Snapchat video making the rounds. “I was with like three buddies and one of them recorded and I didn’t know and I came back to my phone and they told me to tell [his friend] to take it off [Snapchat],” Pavia said. “I took it off, but it was too late.”

Following that ordeal, Pavia went on to lead New Mexico State to an appearance in the Isleta New Mexico Bowl before bolting to Vanderbilt, where he would be named 2024 SEC Newcomer of the Year.

Commodore fans, urine for a treat this season.
