Marty & McGee was live in Nashville on the campus of Vanderbilt University ahead of the Commodores’ matchup vs. Kentucky during Week 13. The show didn’t go that well for Vanderbilt’s mascot, Mr. Commodore.

The mascot was driving an ATV on the set of the SEC Network show — and wrecked it. Mr. Commodore came stumbling out of the wreck but appeared to be okay. Check out the insane moment in the video below:

Mr. Commodore will hope to have a better experience once it enters FirstBank Stadium to watch the game. After all, Vanderbilt has had luck against the Wildcats as of late. They’ve won two of the last three games against Kentucky. Before that, however, Kentucky had won six in a row against Vanderbilt.

The Commodores’ trajectory has changed as of late under head coach Clark Lea. He’s turned Vanderbilt into a serious threat in the SEC in the last two seasons after finishing 2-10 in 2023.

Now, Vanderbilt is in the College Football Playoff picture. The Commodores was on its bye during Week 12 with a comfortable 8-2 record. During their last time out, they defeated Auburn 45-38 in overtime on Nov. 8, winning three of their last four games this season. Their lone loss during that stretch was a three-point loss to Texas on the road after Vanderbilt scored 21 points in the fourth quarter in a comeback bid.

For Kentucky, the Wildcats are still looking to become bowl eligible this season. They’ve won their last two SEC games against Auburn and Florida, respectively. That win over Auburn erased a 10-game winless streak in SEC play that lasted over one calendar year.

One year ago, Vanderbilt won the matchup 20-13 in Lexington. QB Diego Pavia threw for 143 yards, two touchdowns and an interception during the matchup. Kentucky’s defense kept the Commodores out of the end zone in the second half but was unable to come back from the deficit.

Kentucky leads the all-time series 48-44-4, but Vanderbilt has won two of the last three matchups in the series. UK head coach Mark Stoops is 8-3 all-time vs. the Commodores.

Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET. ESPN will air the national broadcast between the Wildcats and Commodores.
