Melvin Miller recruiting update: No. 1 2027 prospect reveals Top 4 schools

No. 1 2027 wrestling prospect Melvin Miller narrowed his recruiting list to his top four schools on Monday, via his Instagram. He recently narrowed the list to six on September 1st.
As it stands now, Miller is down to Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, Penn State and Nebraska. Michigan and Ohio State were the latest schools cut by Miller. He previously removed Pitt, Missouri and Arizona State and removed Iowa after his older brother Bo Bassett decommitted.
Hailing out of Bishop McCort High School (Pa.), Miller is a two-time state champion at 152 and 160 pounds over the last two years. He has a career record of 106-4 through two seasons, per PA-Wrestling.
“Down to the good stuff!,” Miller wrote on Instagram announcing his top four. “Gods Plan, Final 4.”
Melvin Miller closing in on wrestling commitment
Miller could very well be paired alongside older brother Bo Bassett and younger brother Keegan Bassett (2028) when it’s all said and done. Miller and Bo Bassett share Penn State, Oklahoma State and Nebraska and Virginia Tech as far as similar schools on their lists. But, it seems like Nebraska and Virginia Tech are the top two now for Bo Bassett as he’s visited both schools in recent weeks.

Interestingly enough, Bassett did not give the Huskers an official visit during his initial recruitment. He visited Penn State and Oklahoma State and has Bishop McCort teammates currently committed to each school.
Bassett visited Iowa, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Penn State and Rutgers throughout his process this past year. Currently, his high school teammates Sam Herring (Penn State) and No. 1 overall prospect Jax Forrest (Oklahoma State) are committed.
Nebraska made waves this offseason by landing 2021 NCAA champion AJ Ferrari in the transfer portal following a 2nd place team finish at NCAAs. Bassett would fit in nicely in the middle of the Huskers lineup in 2026-27. Ferrari also joined On3 Wrestling to discuss the next chapter in his career.
