Goodyear (Ariz.) Desert Edge four-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney has seen top contenders emerge in his recruitment and he’s now ready to make his commitment.

Sidney will make his decision this Thursday, Jan. 29, according to Rivals’ Adam Gorney. He will choose between Arizona State, Oklahoma and Washington.

Sidney is the No. 363 overall prospect and No. 53 WR in the 2027 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 5 player in Arizona.

“There are a lot of deciding factors but I’d say my top ones are relationship with the staff, academics, coaching stability, how I fit into the playbook, and how do they view playing freshman,” Sidney previously told Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett about what will factor into his decision.

The finalists are no surprise for Sidney. Arizona State holds the in-state factor in its favor and Kenny Dillingham and Co. would love to keep him home. The Washington staff was in on Sidney early and that’s helped keep it in the mix.

Oklahoma got him to Norman back in the fall and the Sooners have really come on strong down the stretch. The Sooners also have a key pledge from Sidney’s high school teammate, three-star cornerback Mikyal Davis.

Sidney plays for one of the top high school football programs in Arizona. Last season, Desert Edge went 11-1 and finished as the No. 9 team in the state, per the Rivals Composite Rankings. The Scorpions’ 2025 roster featured eight ranked prospects.

Sidney talks top schools

Notre Dame and USC were previously finalists for the blue-chip pass-catcher. Back in November, Sidney broke down his interest in what’s now his final three with Gorney:

Washington: “The UDub staff was the first to offer me, remained consistent and they play freshmen.”

Arizona State: “ASU would be a good look for my development and being the hometown kid could bring a lot of attention to my high school.”

Oklahoma: “Oklahoma’s goal for me to play inside and out and early is exciting, not to mention it’s in the SEC.”
