Jacob Ognacevic was one of the top transfer additions in one of the best portal classes in the country this offseason for Washington. However, the Huskies may not see him until conference play now, according to the latest from their head coach this afternoon.

At Big Ten Media Days in Chicago on Thursday, Danny Sprinkle revealed that Ognacevic suffered a recent foot injury during practice. With that, he’s expected to be sidelined for around three months. The Huskies have their season opener slated to tip off with an exhibition in 10 days and their regular season beginning in less than a month on November 3rd.

“Washington head coach Danny Sprinkle said Lipscomb transfer forward Jacob Ognacevic recently suffered a foot injury in practice and will be out for ‘about three months,'” the Field of 68 posted.

Ognacevic transferred in this offseason from the portal after five collegiate seasons, with his first at Valparaiso before his last four at Lipscomb. In 128 career games with the Beacons and Bison, Ognacevic has averaged 14.2 points (57.7% FG, 40.5% 3PT on 1.0 makes) and 4.8 rebounds per game.

His four seasons at Lipscomb, though, were more notable, as he posted 16.4 points (58.1% FG, 38.1% 3PT on 1.0 makes) and 5.5 rebounds per game. With that, Ognacevic was twice voted to the All A-Sun First Team and, last year, won A-Sun Player of the Year. Ognacevic had a career-best campaign last season at 20.0 points (57.5% FG, 40.2% 3PT on 1.4 makes), which led the conference in scoring, with 8.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists. That led Lipscomb to both league titles and its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in seven years, with the Bison losing to Iowa State in the Round of 64.

For his final season of eligibility, Ognacevic entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, being the No. 150 overall player and a Top 35 PF. That’s according to On3’s Industry Ranking of 2025’s Top Transfer Portal Players. He would then commit to Washington, which made him one of seven total commitments to the program that made up the No. 3 portal class in the nation per On3’s 2025 Team Transfer Portal Rankings behind only Texas and Kentucky.

Ognacevic projected to be a key contributor in the frontcourt for this season in Seattle. But, with this announced injury, he likely won’t be available to the Huskies until conference play, likely at the turn of the calendar year.
