Braelon Allen was an On3 Consensus four-star recruit coming out of Fond Du Lac (Wisconsin) High School. He was originally slated to be part of the 2022 Badgers’ class, but Allen reclassified to join the Badgers in 2021. Many projected him as a linebacker in college, but he made an immediate impact at running back for Wisconsin. He led the Badgers and ranked third in the Big Ten with 1,268 rushing yards. He joined Ron Dayne (1996), James White (2010) and Jonathan Taylor (2017) as the only true freshmen in school history to run for 1,000 yards. Allen was also selected Las Vegas Bowl MVP after rushing for 159 yards on 29 carries. Those numbers earned him Walter Camp Freshman All-America honors and consensus second-team All-Big Ten recognition. Allen entered the 2022 season as one of the top running backs in the country. He opened the season with 148 yards rushing, including a 96-yard score against Illinois State.
