Dorian Brew is originally from Northmont, Ohio, but moved with his family during the 2023 high school football season to the Houston area. But during his time at Northmont High School, he left a lasting impression on coach Tony Broering. "He's a rare breed," Broering told Eleven Warriors. "There isn't much he can't do on either side of the ball. Dorian is a very, very good defensive back because of his ball skills and his athleticism. He can get any 50-50 ball that you throw up. In some days of practice, just for fun, I'll just throw it up and see who can get it, and he gets it every time. Once he harnesses that with some offensive route running technique, which he's good at, you know, just to play at that elite level, he needs to keep working on his techniques. He needs to keep working on those techniques. I tell all the recruiters when they ask me, ‘Well, he can play whatever he wants.’ He's that good. He would be our best running back. He would be our best linebacker. He's our best guy, and he’s very, very gifted.” Drew's father, Derrick Brew, was the 2004 Olympic gold medalist in the 4x400-meter relay and a bronze medalist in the 400 meters. His mother, Donica Merriman, was a sprinter at Ohio State and a member of the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame.
