Ja'Lynn Polk was one of the most prolific receivers in East Texas history, finishing his Lufkin High School career second all-time in receptions and receiving yards and third in touchdown catches. Polk originally picked Texas Tech out of high school, and he finished his true freshman season with 28 receptions for 264 yards and two scores. He transferred to Washington ahead of the 2021 season but missed time with an injury. Polk eventually made his mark in the 2022 season when he finished second on the team in both receptions (41) and receiving yards (694). He earned third-team Freshman All-America honors from College Football News. Polk further emerged in 2023 with five 100-yard receiving games during the Huskies' first nine games.
