Lauren Betts arrived at Stanford for the 2022-2023 season as the No. 1 Consensus basketball recruit in the country. Heading into the 2022 season, Betts has won two gold medals playing for the United States (2021 FIBA U19 World Cup in Hungary, 2019 FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Chile). She was also named to the All-Star Five at the 2019 FIBA Americas U16 Championship after averaging a double-double. Betts was the youngest player on the 2021 FIBA U19 World Cup team. Along with the five-star recruiting ranking, she was a McDonald’s and Jordan Brand Classic All-American. Betts was also the WBCA High School Player of the Year. At Centennial (Colorado) Grandview High School, Betts won the Colorado state championship as a senior in 2021-22, averaging 17.2 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.6 blocks and 3.5 assists per game. She was born in Vitoria, Spain and lived in Barcelona, Seville, Málaga and San Sebastian before moving to Colorado at the age of 8.
