Gabby Thomas reflects on winning three gold medals at 2024 Olympics, talks partnership with Mrs. Meyer's

Gabby Thomas became an Olympic star last year when she won three gold medals at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. On3 recently caught up with Thomas and asked her if she ever envisioned winning multiple gold medals in her career.
“As a kid, it wasn’t even in my wildest dreams that I would be a multiple Olympic medalist, nevertheless a gold medalist,” Gabby Thomas told On3 in an email interview. “I always believed that I could do what I set my mind to, but this is beyond what I could’ve imagined, and I am so grateful. It proves to me that there are truly no limits when you set your sights on something and work towards it with intention. Each medal truly does represent my journey to get them- long periods of hard work, setbacks and comebacks, and self-improvement.”
Thomas, a track and field star, earned gold in the 200-meter, 4 x 100-meter relay, and 4x 400-meter relay. The 28-year-old has won five Olympic medals overall, earning a silver in the 4 x 100 meter relay and bronze in the 200 meter at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
Earning a gold medal in any Olympic event is challenging. But which event gave Thomas the biggest challenge? “They all were challenging in their own way, but the 200-meter was definitely the most challenging,” Thomas revealed. “The competition in the short sprints is very intense- and winning is determined by a small fraction of a second. It took literally everything that I had mentally, emotionally, and physically. Running an individual event at the Olympics really tested my focus, discipline, and drive.”

Gabby Thomas doing good work in the community with Mrs. Meyer’s
While Thomas has been successful on the track, she is doing a lot of great things in the community. She has recently partnered with Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day to launch the third year of the brand’s Lots of Compassion initiative. The program transforms vacant lots across the country into community gardens. 20 lots have been transformed in the first two years of the program, and 50 are expected to be transformed by 2027.
“We need compassion now more so than ever – not only for ourselves but in our communities,” Thomas said. “During my time away from the track, I’m passionate about volunteering at my community health clinic to ensure I’m doing my part. Lots of Compassion goes hand in hand with my passion for public health because it cultivates compassion in our communities by turning vacant lots into gardens all over the country, which can actually improve the mental well-being of communities.”
Thomas also talked about how Mrs. Meyer’s has helped her daily self-care and wellness routine. “Part of my self-care routine is keeping a clean space so I can keep my mind clear, so using Mrs. Meyer’s to wash the dishes or clean the countertops is my favorite part of my cleaning routine,” she explained. “I also think scent plays a huge role in how we unwind, and I love that Mrs. Meyer’s brings unique garden-inspired scents into my space, to make it feel more like home.”
