It was a crazy day of women’s hoops. Between upsets and big performances, it was loaded. Here are my takeaways.

1. Duke suffers third loss, USF completes ‘upset’

Duke certainly doesn’t look like a Top 25 team right now. In the first three weeks of the season, they’ve suffered three losses – all to teams they were expected to beat. Last night, USF managed the upset over Duke and made it look easy.

With a new head coach at the helm and their star out with injury until yesterday, this USF squad took a little bit to adjust. But last night, they came out swinging and gave Duke an even deeper hole to dig themselves out of.

2. Troy beats Missouri in a blowout victory

Troy cemented themselves as a mid-major to watch this season after scoring 100 points on Missouri and taking the 18-point win. This is a really deep Troy squad and a very new Missouri team, so the Tigers were expected to need some time.

But Troy looked absolutely dominant and is now 4-1 with their lone falter coming at Kansas State.

3. Ball State remains perfect 5-0 after win over Cincinnati

Ball State is another strong mid-major that remains a perfect 5-0 this season. Last night, they notched a win over a struggling Cincinnati team. And they didn’t just win, they dominated.

The Bearcats need a healthy Dee Alexander if they want to get their season back on track.
