Women's basketball takeaways: 12/9 edition
It was a light — but fun — slate of women’s hoops. Here are my takeaways.
1. The Molly Miller era looks good for ASU
The Molly Miller era is off to a great start at Arizona State. They improved to an undefeated 11-0 last night after a road test at Penn State – one that they dominated.
This team has certainly been overlooked, but their defensive intensity really stood out last night. In the first half, they held Penn State to 10-of-32 from the field and just 1-of-11 from deep. The Nittany Lions are routinely a solid shooting team, so this was good to see from the Sun Devils.
Arizona State has a challenging upcoming schedule, though, with five of its next six games being on the road. Games against Gonzaga and Colorado are ones I’ll look to to better figure out ASU’s potential this year.

2. Perri Page wins it for Columbia at the buzzer
The Ivy League is always fun, but we’ve really been treated to some great Ivy League action lately. Against one of the best Big East teams in Seton Hall, Columbia notched a road win due to a last-second shot from Perri Page.
This result is notable in terms of the league’s hope to earn more than one bid to the NCAA Tournament again.
