Arizona High School Football Top 25 Rankings - Oct. 27

Arizona high school football season saw one of the biggest matchups of the season when Hamilton and Basha matched up, with the former getting the edge in a 28-12 win.

Hamilton with the win became the new No. 1 team in the Grand Canyon State. Liberty Lions is the new No. 2, with Basha coming in at No. 3. Who else joins the aforementioned two teams in the latest set of Arizona high school football Top 25 rankings?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest Arizona high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Oct. 27.

1. Hamilton Huskies

The Hamilton Huskies (8-0) are now the new No. 1 team in Arizona high school football after upending previously ranked No. 2 Basha, 28-12, last week.

Next up for the Huskies they’ll take on one-win Cesar Chavez before a end of the season showdown with No. 4 Chandler.

Hamilton’s title-drought now stands at 12 years after falling to Liberty in last year’s Open Division semifinals, but there’s optimism the streak could end this fall behind a potent offense. Among the standouts on the season for the Huskies has been a number of contributors, including quarterback Jax Sculley (2,670 yards, 38 touchdowns), running back Skyler Cole (628 yards, six touchdowns) and four-star sophomore wide receiver Roye Oliver, who has caught 59 passes for 1,316 yards and 25 scores.

Oliver put himself into the record books last week, becoming the all-time single season leader for touchdowns in Arizona’s Class 6A with 25.

2. Liberty Lions

Liberty drops down to the No. 2 spot in the Arizona high school football rankings after they defeated Brophy College Preparatory, 38-3. The Lions lone loss on the season came against Utah’s Corner Canyon, a 45-14 loss, the Lions (7-1) have been taking it out on any opponent in their path.

For five straight weeks, the Lions have double-digit victories over Highland, winless ALA Queen Creek (0-3), Mountain Ridge, Centennial, and now Brophy, respectively. Liberty takes on Sandra Day O’Connor and Boulder Creek to close out the regular season the next two weeks.

Liberty will need players like Boise State commit Paz St. John and Minnesota pledge Hudson Dunn to lead the charge for the Lions’ defense if they look to repeat as Arizona’s Open Division state champions this fall.

3. Basha Bears

Basha (7-1) fell to the third spot this week after they fell for the first time this season, 28-12, to now top-ranked Hamilton last Friday. The Bears will aim to bounce back when they take on the No. 23 ranked
Mesa Jackrabbits.

The Bears may have come up short last year in their quest to win a second Open Division crown in three years, but undefeated start says this fall say they’ll be back in the AIA Open Division title game. The Bears have opened the 2025 season off with impressive wins over Brophy College Prep, California powerhouse Orange Lutheran and Williams Field.

Quarterback Broderick Vehrs has led a talented Basha offense which features four-star sophomore running back Noah Roberts, three-star wide receiver Jaden Baldwin and four-star offensive tackle Jake Hildebrand. The team’s defensive unit is led by Mason Lewis and linebacker Eli Cramer-Cronin.

4. Chandler Wolves

The Chandler Wolves (7-1) have looked for real all throughout the Arizona high school football regular season, cruising past opponents on a weekly basis. Though last season was a down year, the Wolves have bounced back to being one of the state’s top programs.

The Wolves picked up another blowout victory, this time a 49-7 rout of Cesar Chavez last week.

Quarterback Will Mencl is one of the best junior quarterbacks in Arizona, and he’ll have a pair of standout targets at receiver in Jai Jones and Kaydon Gray. Veteran safety Hamisi Juma, who committed to Arizona last September, will anchor the team’s defensive secondary.

Chandler has a brutal two-game stretch to end the season when they take on No. 6 Pinnacle and No. 1 Hamilton, respectively. If the Wolves can somehow get out of the stretch 1-1 or best case scenario, 2-0, they’ll be in pretty good shape heading into the postseason.

5. Centennial Coyotes

It hasn’t been exactly like last year’s road to the Class 6A state championship, but Centennial remains in the conversation this season. The Coyotes made quick, easy work of Mountain Ridge last week in a 55-7 rout. Centennial will be back in action on Friday night when they face off against Boulder Creek.

This team got hot at the right time last year, winning their first state crown since 2018. Question is, can they do it against despite a slower start? It has been an wonky 2025 Arizona high school football season that’s proven anything can happen.

Sophomore signal caller Kainan Manna has played well behind center, throwing for 1,443 yards and 10 touchdowns.
