Arkansas commit Tay Lockett transfers to Conway (Ark.)

One of the top safeties in the state of California is changing up zip codes just a week before the high school football season kicks off.
Class of 2026 three-star safety, Arkansas commitment Tay Lockett announced he’s transferring to Conway (Ark.) from University Clay (Calif.) on Monday afternoon. Locket is ranked as the No. 62 player in California and No. 66 nationally at safety, per the Rivals Industry Rankings.
Lockett joins a Conway Wampus Cats team that’s ranked No. 4 in the state of Arkansas, according to the Rivals Arkansas High School Football Composite Rankings. Last season, Conway made a run in Arkansas’ Class 7A playoffs, falling in the state semifinal round in a thrilling 36-34 loss to Bentonville.
The addition of Lockett should keep the Wampus Cats in position to once again compete for a AAA Class 7A crown, with the senior looking to make an impact on both sides of the ball.
