Duncanville (TX) gets seven-touchdown effort from Maximus The Great Denson

Following up an act like current Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell, who starred as Duncanville‘s starting signal caller the previous couple of seasons is no easy task.

It has taken a little bit for 2027 quarterback Maximus The Great Denson to have his breakout performance, but the Panther got it in his fourth start for one of Texas high school football’s top programs on Friday night.

In Duncanville’s 48-28 victory over rival DeSoto, Denson went off and threw seven touchdowns in the victory, along with surpassing the 300-yard plateau as well.

The 6-foot-1, 173-pound signal caller was surgical in picking apart DeSoto’s secondary on Friday night as Denson completed 23 of 31 passes for 328 yards and the seven scores.

Now through four regular season games, Denson is coming into his own as the offense is starting to gel. Denson this season has completed 54 of 80 passes for 856 yards and 15 touchdowns.

When looking at the type of production Russell had behind center the last couple of seasons, Denson has a little ways to go in catching up to his predecessor. Russell between 2023 and 2024 completed 418 of 586 passes for 7,444 yards and 90 touchdowns.

More nights like Friday and Denson will be well on his way to making his own mark at Duncanville.

The next time Denson and the Panthers (3-1) take the field is next Friday on the road when they take on Lancaster (3-3).
