Illinois High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - Dec. 1
The 2025 Illinois high school football season is nearing its conclusion, and some of the state’s top teams have either won the state championship or are competing in one. Here’s how Massey rated Illinois’ best squads.
The Massey Ratings system, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, the strength of their schedule, and the margin of victory.
1. Mount Carmel Caravan
The Caravan dominated Fremd to advance to the Illinois high school football Class 8A state championship game. Mount Carmel can close the season with a perfect record by defeating Oswego in the state title game on December 3.
2. East St. Louis Flyers
The Flyers made light work of St. Laurence to advance to the Class 6A state championship game. They made most of the damage in the first half, scoring 37 points. The Flyers’ ground game sailed smoothly, led by Myson Johnson-Cook’s 168 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Meanwhile, Ahmad Coleman added 110 rushing yards and three scores. East St. Louis will battle Fenwick for the crown on December 3.
3. Brother Rice Crusaders
The Crusaders are still in the running for the Illinois high school football Class 7A state championship game after eliminating Downers Grove North 45-17. Brother Rice will carry a 12-1 record as they face St. Rita for the championship on December 3.
4. Lincoln-Way East Griffins
The Griffins failed to win when it mattered most, losing to Mount Carmel in the Class 8A quarterfinals. Lincoln-Way East finished the season at 9-3, with its other losses coming against Naperville North and Carl Sundberg.

5. Montini Catholic Broncos
The Broncos completed the perfect regular season after defeating Rochester in the Illinois high school football Class 4A state championship game. From a 7-6 first quarter, Montini Catholic outscored its opponents, 40-27, to claim the 14-0 finish. The Broncos also secured back-to-back double-digit winning seasons under Brian Griffin.
