1. Trinity Shamrocks

The Trinity Shamrocks (9-2) made easy work of Great Crossing in last week’s Class 6A first round matchup, winning easily, 56-0. Trinity in the second round will take on Simon Kenton.

The Shamrocks will aim for rare three-peat in 2025, which they opened the regular season with some dominant performances, including a 63-0 rout of Pleasure Ridge Park and a 37-0 blowout of Frederick Douglass.

They will need players like quarterback Zane Johnson, running back Jamaurion Berry and wide receiver Sekou Kamara to fuel what is one of Kentucky’s most potent offenses. If Trinity can pull off a win this week against St. Xavier (Ohio), there’s a strong chance they could win out the rest of the way.

2. Christian Academy of Louisville Centurions

Christian Academy of Louisville (11-0) have made it look too easy in the last few weeks en route to the Class 3A playoffs, out-scoring its last four opponents De SalesCentralFern Creek Traditional,
Mercer County Senior
and Western High School Early College by a combined score of 268-28.

The Centurions started the season off winning three straight blowout victories, including wins over Lexington Christian Academy and Owensboro, respectively. They added also impressive victories in with a 34-27 decision over Ryle and a 55-6 rout of Central Hardin.

Christian Academy of Louisville has been one of the more dominant teams in the state as they feature a loaded roster, led by four-star sophomore defensive lineman Kellan Hall. The Centurions also have talents like senior defensive back Stone Perkins (Ball State commit) and linebacker Chapman Russell on defense.

The Centurions takes on De Sales, a team they defeated 62-7 during the regular season, in the second round of the 3A playoffs.

3. St. Xavier Tigers

Right out of the gates to kickoff the 2025 season, St. Xavier started with a 38-7 win over Owensboro. The Tigers have since then had a bye week before pulling off dominant victories over Bowling Green and Louisville Male, respectively. Despite the three losses to their record, the Tigers made a bump up in this latest set of Kentucky high school football rankings.

The Tigers continue the KHSAA 6A playoffs versus Bullitt East this week.

4. South Warren Spartans

South Warren (11-0) knocked off Logan County 49-14 to close out the regular season and start this week’s Class 6A playoffs against Christian County.

When it comes to playmakers on the offensive end making things happen for the Spartans, quarterback Camden Page and running back Kayden York have been the two main contributors thus far. Page has thrown for 1,686 yards and 19 touchdowns and York has totaled 646 and 15 scores on the ground. Junior defensive back Isaiah Bridges has led a stout South Warren defense with five interceptions.

5. Boyle County Rebels

The Boyle County Rebels (10-1) began the Class 4A playoffs with a 52-6 win over Whitley County last week.

Boyle County aims to make it eight consecutive victories when they face off against Wayne County team this week’s second round matchup. The Rebels have been able to win four clutch games when decided by 11 or less points this season.

Regaining the Class 4A state title will be Boyle County’s foremost goal this year. The Rebels’ tight end duo of Seneca Driver and Maddox Hager is crucial if Boyle County wants to make a serious run at winning another state championship.
