Maryland High School Football Top 25 Rankings - Oct. 7

The high school football season continued in Maryland last week, as many of the top programs in the Old Line State were in action. Plenty of interesting results followed.
Another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 Maryland high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Oct. 7.
1. St. Frances Academy Panthers
The Panthers extended their winning streak to four games after defeating The First Academy 37-0. It’s St. Frances Academy’s second consecutive shutout victory, following their 66-0 blowout against Hewlett Sports Academy. The best team in Maryland high school football will host St. Thomas More on October 10.
2. DeMatha Catholic Stags
The Stags improved to 5-0 after a 43-6 demolition of Riverdale Baptist. It’s the third consecutive game wherein they have limited their opponents to seven points or less. DeMatha Catholic can extend its winning streak by defeating Good Counsel on October 10.
3. Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers
The Cavaliers’ winning streak is now at four games after their 51-7 drubbing of St. Mary’s. Archbishop Spalding’s 30-point second quarter had the game out of the Saints’ reach. Spalding can improve to 6-2 by earning a win against Concordia Prep on October 11.
4. Good Counsel Falcons
The Falcons ended their two-game skid by edging St. Mary’s Ryken 27-21. Jackson Rice threw for 190 passing yards and three touchdowns, all caught by Kobe Ellis. Paul Alston had 87 rushing yards, while Ellis finished with ten receptions for 102 yards. In continuation of their 2025 Maryland high school football season, Good Counsel will try to start a win streak by defeating DeMatha Catholic on October 10.
5. McDonogh School Eagles
Despite scoring the second-fewest points in a game this season, the Eagles are on a three-game winning streak following their 28-14 triumph over Mount St. Joseph. A 6-1 record is at stake when McDonogh School visits Calvert Hall College on October 10.
6. Quince Orchard Cougars
The Cougars are still perfect after five games. Their 34-13 victory over Winston Churchill marked the first time they’ve allowed double-digit points to their opponent. Josiah Teasley had an all-around game, finishing with 122 passing yards, 83 rushing yards, and four touchdowns (three passing). Quince Orchard will target a 6-0 mark when they play Sherwood on October 10.
7. Calvert Hall College Cardinals
The Cardinals remain at 3-2 following their 28-14 victory against Mount St. Joseph. After having a bye week, Calvert Hall resumes their 2025 Maryland high school football season against McDonogh on October 10.
8. North Point Eagles
A 35-0 shutout victory against Thomas Stone improved the Eagles’ record to 5-0. It’s the second time they’ve shut down an opponent this season, and the third time they have allowed seven points or less. North Point can go to 6-0 by defeating Huntingtown on the 10th.

9. Loyola Blakefield Dons
After suffering back-to-back losses, the Dons completed two straight victories after beating Gilman. Carlos Spencer had 398 passing yards and three touchdowns, all caught by Brayden Pross. Mason Russell added 48 rushing yards and a score, while Pross had 12 catches for 265 receiving yards. On defense, Brady Murn registered seven tackles and two interceptions. Loyola Blakefield can keep its streak going by defeating St. Mary’s on October 10.
10. Milford Mill Academy Millers
The Millers have shut down their opponents for the third consecutive game. In their 35-0 victory over Franklin, Dejuan Nelson (95 yards, one touchdown) and Mi’cah Williams (80 yards, one TD) powered Milford Mill’s ground game. The Millers will try to maintain a perfect Maryland high school football season when they face New Town on October 9.
