The Massachusetts high school football campaign has come to the end of the regular season as of last week, with not a whole lot changing at the top.

St. John’s Preparatory School remains Massachusetts high school football’s No. 1 team after defeating Catholic Memorial, 43-28, last week. Which other teams, though, join the three aforementioned teams when it comes to the latest Massachusetts high school football Top 25 rankings?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest Massachusetts high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Nov. 3.

1. St. John’s Preparatory School Eagles

The Eagles (9-0) are the No. 1 team out of Massachusetts and there’s plenty to like about this team, especially after an impressive victory over No. 3 ranked Catholic Memorial, 43-28. St. John’s boasts having one of the best sophomore quarterbacks in the country in Christopher Vargas, who is coming off a solid freshman campaign. Vargas against the Knights ended up throwing four touchdowns on 20 of 29 completions.

The Eagles were awarded the No. 1 seed in Massachusetts’ Division I and they will take on No. 16 seed Framingham this week on Friday night.

2. Tabor Academy Seawolves

The Tabor Academy Seawolves (6-0) feature one of the Massachusetts’ most talented rosters bar none. The Seawolves have a bevy of Division I talent, which includes players like junior quarterback Peter Bourque (Michigan commit), Amahn Williams (UCF commit) and a pair of UCLA defensive linemen commitments in Carter Gooden and Marcus Almada, respectively.

Tabor Academy was impressive in their regular season opener, a 37-6 rout of The Williston Northampton School, following it up with a dominating outing over The Governors Academy in a 46-6 rout and then taking care of business against Milton Academy in a 51-26 win. Last week, the Seawolves ran away with a 39-21 win over St. Sebastian’s School.

The Seawolves look to close out their regular season slate of games with Buckingham Browne & Nichols School.

3. Catholic Memorial Knights

Catholic Memorial (5-2) are once again loaded with Power 4 talent, with a handful that’ll be making the short trip over to Boston College after their time with the Knights. Among the myriad of Boston College commitments are 2026 three-star linemen Marcelino AntunesMac Fitzgerald, 2027 safety Jackson Tucker and 2028 athlete Ramar Thomas.

The Knights are always in the mix when it comes to MIAA’s Division 2 classification and their most impressive victory of the season was a 56-32 romp over St. Francis (N.Y.) several weeks ago. The Knights dropped their first game of the season a couple weeks ago against Xaverian Brothers with New England Patriots’ quarterback Drake Maye in attendance, 25-22.

Catholic Memorial had one of their toughest games of the season when they took on No. 1 St. John’s Prep, falling 42-38 to the Eagles. The Knights have a bye week in the opening round of the MIAA Division II playoffs and won’t play again until Nov. 14.

4. Springfield Central Golden Eagles

The Golden Eagles (7-1) have been an interesting team through the first eight games of the season, as this group could easily be undefeated after losing their opener by one point to St. John’s Preparatory School, 36-35.

Since then, Springfield Central has bounced back with seven straight quality victories, with the latest victory coming being a 33-7 rout of West Springfield last week. The Golden eagles are easily one of the hottest teams heading into the Massachusetts state playoffs.

Springfield Central will open the MIAA Division I playoffs this week against Taunton.

5. King Phillip Regional Warriors

King Philip Reg (8-0) bumped down one spot after a 36-13 win over Attleboro on Halloween.

The Warriors are coming off another strong season in the MIAA’s Division II classification, in which they went 12-1 and reached the state championship game, losing to Catholic Memorial. With an advantageous schedule that mimics last year’s, the road back to the title game looks clear once again for the Warriors.

King Phillip enters the MIAA Division III playoffs as the No. 1 seed as they will take on unbeaten Chicopee Comprehensive.
