The high school football season continued in Mississippi last week, as many of the top programs in the Magnolia State were in action. Plenty of interesting results followed.

Another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 Mississippi high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Oct. 13.

1. Tupelo Golden Wave

The Golden Wave claimed the top spot in the Mississippi high school football rankings after a 43-20 victory over Southaven. Jaeden Hill (130 yards, one TD) and Kylan Bobo (120 yards, one TD) powered Tupelo’s rushing attack. Meanwhile, the Tupelo defense recorded four sacks, two courtesy of Florida commit Jareylan McCoy, and a fumble recovery. The Golden Wave can improve to 7-1 if they beat Hernando on October 17.

2. Starkville Yellowjackets

The Yellowjackets dropped to number two after a surprising 45-28 loss to Germantown. Despite that defeat, Kingston Johnson (302 passing yards, three touchdowns) and Chaden Walker (132 receiving yards, two touchdowns) had impressive performances. Starkville can bounce back by defeating Clinton on the 17th.

3. Madison-Ridgeland Academy Patriots

The Patriots extended their winning streak to six games after a 27-26 victory over Louisiana’s Baton Rouge Catholic. Samuel Stockett threw for 202 yards and a touchdown, while Colson O’Cain had a couple of rushing TDs. On defense, Curtis Gentry had seven total tackles, including two sacks. Madison-Ridgeland Academy can earn its seventh victory in eight games by defeating Parklane Academy on the 17th.

4. Oxford Chargers

The Chargers have earned two consecutive victories after beating Madison Central 16-14. Demar Jamerson led the way with 102 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Oxford defense generated 3.5 sacks and a fumble recovery. The Chargers’ next opponent in the 2025 Mississippi high school football season will be Germantown on the 17th.

5. Brandon Bulldogs

While the Bulldogs scored only three points against Northwest Rankin, it was enough to secure their third victory in six games. Jase Eldridge’s field goal were the only points on the board. Brandon will face Petal on the 17th.

6. West Point Green Wave

The Green Wave improved to 6-0 after a 50-13 win over Pontotoc. Scoring a half-century marks West Point’s highest point total this season. They can keep their undefeated run against Lafayette on October 17.

7. Ocean Springs Greyhounds

After suffering their first loss in the 2025 Mississippi high school football season, the Greyhounds responded with a 42-21 victory over D’Iberville. The Warriors had no answer for Solomon Baggett, who rushed for 235 yards and four touchdowns. Lanny Waltman added a rushing TD, while Chalmers Berglind connected with Sharroid Whitehead on a touchdown pass. Ocean Springs will face West Harrison on October 24.

8. Petal Panthers

The Panthers’ winning streak is now at four games after a 28-21 win over Oak Grove. That victory improved Petal’s record to 5-2, and they can earn win number six by defeating Brandon in an October 17 road game.

9. Oak Grove Warriors

In their loss to Petal, Kellen Hall played well, finishing with 307 passing yards and three touchdowns. All his scoring throws went to KJ Roberts, who had 120 receiving yards. Now at 4-3, Oak Grove can rediscover their winning form against Meridian on the 17th.

10. Germantown Mavericks

The Mavericks complete the Mississippi high school football top ten following their impressive victory over Starkville. In that game, King White finished with 395 passing yards, 70 rushing yards, and four touchdowns. His monster game benefited wideouts Keyshaun Coleman (160 receiving yards, two touchdowns) and Lawson Brandon (171 yards, two TDs). Next on their schedule is an October 17 road game against Oxford.
