Mississippi High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - Oct. 6

The high school football season continued in Mississippi last week, as many of the top programs in the Magnolia State were in action. Plenty of interesting results followed.

Another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 Mississippi high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Oct. 6.

1. Starkville Yellowjackets

The Yellowjackets claim the top spot in the Mississippi high school football rankings after a 22-14 victory over Brandon. Kingston Johnson finished the game with 158 passing yards, 58 rushing yards, and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Latrent Agney and Philip Swann caught Jackson’s scoring throws. The Starkville defense also showed up, generating 18 tackles for losses and four sacks. The Yellowjackets can earn their fifth victory in six games by beating Germantown on October 10.

2. Tupelo Golden Wave

After losing to West Point, the Golden Wave bounced back with a 35-0 shutout victory against Hartfield Academy. Kylan Bobo had a field day, tallying 220 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Jaeden Hill added 89 rushing yards and two TDs. Likewise, the Tupelo defense generated 12 tackles for losses, including three touchdowns. Following this win, the Golden Wave will face Southaven on October 10

3. Madison-Ridgeland Academy Patriots

The Patriots extended their winning streak to six games after edging Louisiana’s Baton Rouge Catholic 27-26. Samuel Stockett threw for 202 yards and a touchdown pass to Michael McCrory, while Colson O’Cain had 63 rushing yards and two TDs. Madison-Ridgeland Academy can go to 7-1 by defeating Parklane Academy on October 17.

4. Oxford Chargers

The Chargers have won back-to-back games after edging Madison Central 16-14. After improving their record to 5-1. Oxford’s 2025 Mississippi high school football season will continue against Germantown on October 17.

5. Brandon Bulldogs

The Bulldogs have won eight consecutive games against Northwest Rankin, courtesy of Jace Eldridge’s field goal. Those were the only points of the game, enough to give Brandon a 3-3 record. The Bulldogs will proceed with their October 17 game against Petal.

6. West Point Green Wave

The Green Wave remains perfect through five games after a shutout victory against Callaway. Kingston Branham had 120 passing yards and a touchdown. Likewise, Tray Bell and Jaylon Moore each had a sack. West Point can keep its perfect run by defeating Pontotoc on the 10th.

7. Oak Grove Warriors

The Warriors are on a four-game winning streak after edging Houston 28-25. A fourth-quarter touchdown pass proved to be the winning score for Oak Grove. The Warriors improved to 4-2 and will face Petal on October 10.

8. Ocean Springs Greyhounds

The Greyhounds remain in the top ten despite suffering their first loss in the 2025 Mississippi high school football season. In their 41-28 loss to Gulfport, Solomon Baggett was impressive, tallying 230 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Ocean Springs can get back on the winning track by defeating D’Iberville on October 10.

9. D’Iberville Warriors

The Warriors earned their sixth win this year via a 25-7 outcome against West Harrison. D’Iberville’s ground game fired from all cylinders, generating 233 yards and four touchdowns. Chan Harvey led the way with 107 yards and a touchdown, while Jordan Walley had 70 yards and two TDs. Next on the Warriors’ schedule is an October 10 home game against Ocean Springs.

10. Petal Panthers

The Panthers extended their winning streak to three games after a 45-6 domination of West Jones. Likewise, it’s the second consecutive game in which they limit an opponent to single-digit scoring. Petal’s 2025 Mississippi high school football season continues with an October 10 road game against Oak Grove.
